I LOVE SOCCER

I grew up playing soccer from age 3 until I got into high school. I quit playing in high school because the girl's team didn't get along well my freshman year and by my senior year they were throwing wild parties the police would get called out for and I just didn't want to be around that sort of thing. When we were in college Mommy and Daddy became friends by playing soccer on the same intermural team (and now we are very thankful for soccer!). So recently when we moved to an area with a professional soccer team I was really excited and hopeful to see a live game. Last week we were finally able to go to a game. It was so much fun. Tink enjoyed playing on the bleachers in the stadium and Mommy almost drove Daddy crazy with some of her cheering for the home team. Daddy did better as the game progressed and was a lot better cheering at a soccer game than he was whenever we went to a professional baseball game in the past. (Daddy is not allowed to edit this and bash on my hometown baseball team!!)

The game ended in a tie of 0-0 but I really enjoyed the game anyways. There were some really close goals, especially from our team. I was disappointed in some of the sportsmanship and cheating going on by some of the players on both teams. I personally feel that especially if you have the talent to make it to that level of playing then you should be able to trust your talent and your teammates without having to grab them as they dribble the ball past you down the field. The captain of our team did a great job though keeping his cool and talking to the refs even when a fight broke out on the field in between plays. I thought he was a great example of a professional athlete and attitude! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed cheering and just watching the skill of these men! It was awesome!!! I LOVE SOCCER! Our goalie rocked, I was so excited when he saved a couple of goals. I couldn't believe how high and how far they sent the ball sailing down the field with a kick that looked so effortless for them. Watching the game made me want to play again. So if anyone knows of a soccer league for women in my area that I can join let me know. :) In truth I think if I had to choose, right now I may even choose to play soccer over being in a play, as if either was an option right now. :) Daddy and I have decided we definitely want to go to another game before the season ends and before we move again. We just have to check their schedule and ours to see which game we will get to go to.

After the game they had a fireworks show because it was close to the 4th of July. We weren't sure how Tink was going to do but she was great. The noise didn't bother her and she enjoyed seeing the fireworks in the sky. (Our camera batteries died during the game so we don't have pictures.) Sometimes I would say the typical "Ooh" and "Aah" or "Wow" and Tink would sometimes repeat the "wow". Sometimes she would just point to the fireworks and smile real big. No one was sitting on the bleacher in front of us so Daddy used Tink's diaperbag as a pillow and layed down so he could see the fireworks more comfortably. I ended up sitting on the floor in between the bleachers (there was plenty of room) with Tink sitting on my lap and then she put her head on Daddy's chest and we sat like that for the rest of the fireworks show. The fireworks were better than I expected and I was really glad since we didn't get to see any up close on the 4th. Well, until the next soccer game keep shooting for your personal goals and create your own fireworks with those you love most!
