Tink's Ears Update

Well we went to the ENT today. Tink did pretty good. She was pretty nervous about a new doctor and a new office but the doctor was great with her and she let him look in her nose, ears, and mouth. They did a number of tests on/with her. We went into a booth that had a speaker to the left and to the right of us. Straight ahead was a box that had a rubber duck they would light up to get her to look forward again. They would make noises from the speakers and see if she would look towards the noise. She did great at first and then she kept asking and signing for "more duck." So ultimately that test was rather inconclusive since we didn't know if she couldn't hear the noises or just wasn't as interested in that as she was in the duck. Then they put earphones on her and asked her to do things like touch her knose, eyes, shoes, and so forth. Sometimes the commands would be in her left ear and sometimes in her right. She passed that test easily. Her ears were recieving vibrations now but Tink hated that test because they had to put something right inside her ears and puff some air into it. After that she freaked for the next test when they wanted to put plugs in her ears. They didn't see fluid in her ears anymore which thrilled Daddy and Mommy since she has had fluid in both ears for months now. So the prognosis is that she does not need tubes right now and she is hearing better if not fully now. We will probably get her hearing checked again in 3-6 months just to be sure and when she can follow commands a bit more for a more accurate testing. In the meantime we will be watching her closely and hoping she won't get another ear infection because then our concerns will be back in full force. Thank you for your prayers and love.
